My SheWee Mishap: A Lesson in Preparation

Have you ever received a gift that seemed like a great idea at the time, only to have it backfire spectacularly? That's exactly what happened to me when my husband, Nick, gave me a SheWee for my birthday in September 2021. The intention was noble – to make camping and hiking more convenient by allowing me to have a "bush wee" with ease. Little did I know, this seemingly foolproof device would lead to one of the most embarrassing moments of my life.

It all happened during a filming trip to the Capertee Valley, where we were shooting our first-ever YouTube video. Excited to explore the area, we decided to hike up to a nearby glowworm tunnel. As we reached the summit, I thought, "Now is the perfect time to test out the SheWee." After all, what could go wrong?

Confidently, I found a secluded spot, positioned the SheWee as instructed, and let nature take its course. However, a few seconds later, I felt something warm – to my horror, I had peed my pants! In the middle of filming, halfway through our hike, I was stuck with wet jeans and a sinking feeling of embarrassment.

To add to the humiliation, we had only planned to visit a place with Aboriginal rock art, so we weren't exactly dressed for a hike. But since that location was closed, we opted for the glowworm walk instead – hence, my ill-fated choice of wearing jeans. Pee-soaked jeans, to be exact.

Needless to say, my experience with the SheWee was far from ideal, and I have never used it since. It taught me a valuable lesson about preparation and practice, especially when trying out new gear. While it may have been a humorous misadventure in hindsight, I'll certainly think twice before trusting a gadget without proper testing in the future.
